There are three main categories of people who gravitate to the study of the Alexander Technique. One is high achievers. These are people who have come to understand that this study will help them perform and learn at their best.
The second category is people who are in pain. Perhaps it is related to their job, perhaps a repetitive type of usage or practice which is causing them physical pain. It could be sitting in front of a computer for long hours or something of this nature. Musicians who practice and perform for long hours, perhaps standing, love what they do but are sometimes quite distressed by physical pain.
The third category is people who suffer from anxiety or stress. The work acts similar to mindfulness to relieve this type of suffering. Bringing the body and mind together in one place is the definition of peace. Tremendous relaxation and healthiness in mind and body will result if the technique is put into practice.
