The basic idea of Jin Shin Jyutsu is that you can hold certain points which act as jumper cables to unblock restrictions and restore the flow of energy. The Universe is the live battery and the body is the run down battery. The easiest applications are to hold one of one’s fingers or thumb for a variety of complaints. See chart. One tries to breathe well, release tension from one’s shoulders, (let the shoulders drop), and maybe smile (just cheer yourself up a little bit). One may feel a pulse or just a feeling of connectedness after a few breaths. Ideally the pulse will slowly increase and then decrease. Then one may move to the next point, finger or flow. You sometimes feel a bit sore or hard on the proper blocked point. You can press a bit, then relax or just touch it gently. The main flow is called the Main Central Vertical Flow. This can be energized by placing the right hand (or fingers) on top of the head and the left fingers start at the mid forehead and progress down the front of the body at the points shown on the chart. One finishes with the right hand shifting to the coccyx (left hand is on pubic bone). See charts. A few other flows are diagrammed.
