Gesar’s flag; It has many auspicious symbols, which are like prayers on the wind
I’m still learning about weebly, but not all of the pages show up on a phone or a tablet (some embedded).
I guess I am starting a blog. Who knew I was becoming a web designer, albiet an inexperienced one. A lot of this stuff I had already written but some I am writing now. The catalyst for all of this is a magazine article I recently wrote on page "mindfulness article." I am writing a couple more essays titled "mind and the analogy of horse and rider" and "vajra fist," talking about the use of the hands in many activities, strong but soft, relaxed but firm. Some things I have not talked about but would respond to inquiries. I have another idea for an essay titled, “Nalanda View”.

There is such a lot of stuff on youtube these days. I got into studying ramana maharshi. I have a bit of history of that. I’ll put up a page about it. I’ve also been doing some viewing on ho’oponoopono/huna. I saw some mabel katz stuff. I have a history with that also. I’ll put up a page. Serge King says in order to get something that you want, you must bless that, or acknowledge the goodness of that in your world. "Bless everyone and everything that represents what you want."
I’ve been thinking of writing some on my buddhist oil exploration company, Gold Lake Oil. I’ll put up a page on that.
September 24
It seems like this website has also become one about Shambhala Warriorship altogether. I am doing a page about Shinto, the japanese religion which has a lot of parallels to Shambhala.
oct 27
i had a couple of ideas for new topics: William Reed, he has written a lot of books about ki development. Also Tessu, from a book about his life; arguably the greatest swordsman of japan, arguably the greatest calligrapher, one of the 3 great statesman of his age, singlehandedly saved his country from civil war, attained enlightenment at the age of 35. good resume
1-3-19
Really, where I am at in my practice is I try to get my body pretty straight, but not tense it to do so. I let something happen whereby my breath gets rather subtle. It’s almost like I am sipping lungta from the breath. I am sipping chi from the breathing. It gets gentle, continuous, like it could go on forever. Like floating down a gentle river. It is different from my normal way of being. I certainly can’t do it all the time but the more I do it the better.
In my daily life I am all over the same thing as Alexander Technique. I am mindful and in my body. This is not really an effort but is the easiest thing. But you have to practice it a lot.
I am finding it useful to settle my energy on the earth. I find if I can do that, the earth comes up to support me. I just let my energy settle back and forth on the earth. Like doing Tai Chi or also Chi Kung. I don’t really need to move back and forth but it doesn’t hurt when one is learning. It’s easy to freeze one’s energy. It’s easy to always be perching. Basically I just try not to perch
Just as an example, if I am driving, I just let my energy or weight settle back and forth or side to side. I can’t perch and do both. If I let my energy slosh back and forth a bit, I won’t perch. Tai Chi is big on this principle. They call it being double weighted, being heavy on both feet as a defect. They say there is always an empty side and a full side, at least walking or standing. If you settle good, it can be done sitting also. Or at least one is not frozen.
2-21-19
I put up a little video on my brush and sword page. It shows a little about a fun way to practice with the wooden (bokken) sword and sparring with rubber swords.
2-23-19
I uploaded several elocution videos on the elocution page.
2-24
I am uploading a calligraphy manual on a new Calligraphy Manual page.
2-24
I am creating a new page, Calligraphy Examples, allowing one to practice by copying these examples or just enjoy them.
3-1
I put up a video on the Brush and Sword Page talking about practicing with the 2 swords; exemplery samurai; Mushashi and Hideyoshi; ideals of the samurai
I am going to put up some calligraphy video/s. I just got some video editing software. I have some work to do to get up to speed on that.
The heart of the Calligraphy Manual in some way is the Zen Calligraphy Manual and the last one on Tessu both on page 4.
3-11
I put up some new pages. William Reed, Tessu, karmamudra, Dressage, tea ceremony, flower arranging
3-16
My idea is to do a video on zen calligraphy. Really, I want to also instruct Shambhala Warriors, enhancing their current calligraphy practice by incorporating some of the vast wisdom from this powerful Eastern tradition. Perhaps this will help them integrate the very powerful mind-body implications from their efforts.
3-23
I put up a page called Japan trip, talking about a 1983 pilgrimage to Japan with Chogyam Trungpa taken by 93 travelers.
9-14-19
I am uploading a couple of videos on a new videos page (at bottom). Just some thoughts I had.
9-17-19
I am putting up some videos--on the videos mind/body page. I'm calling it GAP; Gokhale method, Alexander Technique and Psoas Release Party combined.
12-22-19
I am thinking my method is a combination of alexander work, dzogchen (shambhala; meditation; mindfulness); and jin shin jyutsu (energy medicine). I think the jin shin jyutsu ties it all together nicely, somehow. Those who practice jsj would tend to agree.
1-27-20
Page "video AT + meditation; breathing, hands, gazing." I made a video. Youtube, for me, will only accept 15 minute uploads so it is in 9 parts. 2 hours total.
alexander technique + meditation; AT + mindfulness; Alexander breathing; elegant use of the hands; gazing; eye gazing---------how alexander technique and meditation and/or mindfulness can be joined together to advance one toward one's goals; a lesson in breathing from an alexander technique point of view but also in buddhist meditation. How the two can be combined profitably----------the second part is a bit more for the serious meditator; elegant use of the hands; hands and how one uses them are a very powerful aspect of meditation and mindfulness, "like a king holding a scepter"; gazing or eyes wide open is a very powerful aspect of meditation from the beginning until extreme prominence toward the end of the path

Constructive Rest
A Guide to this powerful self-help tool, inspired by the Alexander Technique, that can help anyone release harmful tension. Constructive rest, sometimes known as "active rest", "semi-supine" or the "Alexander lying-down position" is an extremely effective self-help tool for Alexander Technique students, and for anyone else who wants a simple, practical way of releasing excess tension from their body.

2-13
I did a page on Karlfried Durckheim, german guru, zen master, philosopher, psychologist, wise man.
I did another video. 6 parts. 74 minutes. I started out talking about Alexander Technique and walking. About the third video I did walking meditation instruction. I did some on Chi Kung and Tai Chi Chih. I talked some about shamatha-vipayshana. I talked some about gazing. new last page .
2-19-20
I am contemplating some more videos. I think it’s a little hard to do a basic one on Alexander and there are so many out there. Look at the one on youtube sponsored by William Hurt. The AT teacher is Jane Kosminsky of NYC. Excellent. Search youtube for AT + Marge Barstow.
I probably will do one on the Posture of meditation basic instruction. I am thinking of doing one on calligraphy. I might take another crack at shamata-vipayshana. Perhaps basic meditation instruction. I might do some commentary or wrapup of the last 2 big ones I did. I am kind of big on the Will Johnson practice of Alignment, relaxation, and resilience at the moment. I had not really delved deeply into the resilience before. I had not really understood the instructions completely and I had a lot of resistance to it. It is powerful. I was reluctant to try and incorporate into my meditation practice, fearing it was too hinayana or something. Now I am thinking it is very mahamudra and also Shambhalian.
I know that my next video will be on jin shin jyutsu (energy medicine). It has the hands, it has the breath, it has the energy, it ties it all together in many ways.
2-21
I think that the next video will be AT and sitting meditation, including instruction on the posture aspect of meditation.
2-28
I did another video. 6 parts. 76 minutes.
I was inspired to speak on resilience. Will Johnson describes mind-body meditation in 3 stages or parts. Alignment-relaxation-resilience. I am talking about Alexander Technique and meditation. I speak on good head and shoulders, lha, resilience, being open to tiny movements and energies which are ordinarily ignored, squashed by tension, or regarded as anti-mindfulness. I talk about the great eastern sun.. The 3 kayas. The meaning of dreams (sambhogakaya). Primacy of knowledge of the feeling-tone (emptiness). Will Johnson studied the words of the Buddha on the body in meditation and also Tilopa. He has practiced a vipayssana style of meditation. I tell an ancient telling of the story of St. George and the dragon. I address the issue of trauma and the necessity to be careful when delving into these areas, but how one must also be brave. I told about Amaterasu-omi-kami, the goddess of the great eastern sun. and our visit to her shrine at Ise.
3-15
I am into this idea of womb energy, the feminine, the indirect method, etc. I am going to put up some information and teaching on that.
I added a video on Mark Rylance on the "video" page talking about womb energy and the myth of St. George (the feminine).
3-25
I want to do a calligraphy video. Maybe I will. I want to put up the reailiance chapter from will johnson’s book. “Alignment, Relaxation, Resilience.”
The emphasis on the mind in meditation can be somewhat misleading: If we pay attention only to mental processes and overlook the experience of the body, we can remain stuck in our heads and not be able to break free of the involuntary thinking that we find so claustrophobic and toxic. This short, practical guide helps us embrace the fact of our embodiment—the experience of the sensations, movements, and gestures of the body—and to realize that mindfulness is the natural state of awareness of a body that has learned how to experience its feeling presence. Johnson takes us through the three primary principles of the posture of meditation: alignment, relaxation, and resilience. He devotes a large part of each chapter to specific practices to help the reader experience different aspects of physical presence. This book is of interest to meditators of all traditions—Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Jews, and others—as well as therapists, bodyworkers, and anyone interested in body-centered psychology and other natural modes of healing.

I did a calligraphy video.
I have quite a bit on Calligraphy practice already.

5-13-20
I plan a jin shin jyutsu (energy medicine) video. Also an extensive jsj page.
Also a page on resilience. A chapter from Will Johnson--"Alignment, Relaxation, Resilience: The Physical Foundations of Mindfulness".
5-30
I put up a page about macrobiotics. It is wisdom as far as I can tell. A sane kind of a life.
6-26
I added some stuff to the H'ooponpono page. I got inspired to work with this system some more and it is performing miracles. I am on some kind of journey of healing, one prominent theme of which is to transform my relationship with women. Everything, really: health, finances, anger issues, family problems, politics, negativity about the virus, negativity of all kinds. It really works, this stuff. Pretty simple also.
9-21-20
I did a birthday doha:
All glory goes to the source, the peerless teacher.
The union of devotion and compassion is a good way to go.
A good son of good kagyu parents.
Raised by the mother’s milk of Shambhala.
Elevated by the profound methods of the old ones, the nyingma.
I learned to be a humble servant.
9-22-20
It seems like making videos is the future on this for me. I suppose I will turn it loose a bit and just teach the way I teach. In some ways I consider myself a son of Tulku Urgyen. He says we are in a time when many of the restrictions on popularizing the nyingma teaching need to be relaxed and the teachings need to be widely disseminated. His teachers said about him, “you are just a guy who views rigpa as just very simple and easy. Very easy to understand and accomplish. You are unusual and you just present it that way.” He was criticized for his style of teaching. Many people, mostly westeners, would just show up at his place everyday. He would just teach them and mostly he just gave them pointing out instruction. Pointing out the nature of mind. Some of his students and colleagues were quite alarmed. These students had not undergone years of preparatory guidance and practice as was more common. He just kept it up and really admonished all of us to take up an opening up of these teachings at this time. Chogyam Trungpa is my root guru and I teach on him constantly but, after that, I rely a great deal on Tulku Urgyen for the view. One could do worse. Perhaps the two sublime beings of their age, among a throng of sublime beings. The books of either say it all. Together, the modern legacy of the dharma.
9-25
I did a video (8 parts; 110 minutes) on Alexander Technique and the Dharma; mixing AT with meditation and mindfulness–It’s kind of a breakdown of an early series of Alexander Lessons and how that might relate to one’s meditation practice or mondfulness practice.
The second part is titled Dzogchen--teachings on the Great Perfection--the pinnacle of meditation. I sort of present some teachings on “The three words that strike the vital point” by Garab Dordje, kind of taken from a book “The Golden Letters”. Also some ideas from Tulku Urgyen. Along the style of his books "As it is" and Dzogchen Trilogy.
11-14-20
I copied an extensive instructions on meditation section; an excerpt of Chogyam Trungpa's "The Path of Individual Liberation"; teachings on hinayana.
11-25
I got a nice book on Western Calligraphy.
I lay out a bit about my current thinking, practices, vision
It's what I need to be working on, western hard point calligraphy. I can put my short poems together with as little picture or brushed calligraphy.
1-1-2021
I did an essay on good head and shoulders using the excellent analogy of the vulture and the garuda, the Great Bird, flying on wings of ease, good use, freedom, and vastness of vision.
4-10
Resilience and Saraha
I thought I would do a little essay on resilience and tie it into “The Royal Song of Saraha”.
I am finding in my meditation practice that the following is true. As a habitual pattern, if I examine myself carefully, particularly in relation to the practice of resilience, I find that 98% of my energy is dedicated to freezing myself, to opposing resilience. To freezing myself so that energy and life do not flow naturally. Even if I gain a good bit of freedom in the areas of alignment and relaxation. Resilience seems to be a whole new level. If I really pay attention I can open up somewhat and gain some level of ease and freedom.
Will Johnson says that you cannot be resilient and be in your head. The whole point of the freezing is to create samsara.
I am amazed by the power and simplicity of this practice. Also, that’s it’s just taking alexander technique to the next level.
I owe a great deal to the work of Will Johnson, among others. I urge you to read a chapter of his on resilience that I recently posted on my website.
This practice is prominent in Goenka and other buddhist schools in southwest asia as well as among some tibetans.
Essentially, this freezing is the core of ignorance and marigpa (unknowing).
Unfreezing oneself and letting the life and resiliance flow is the same as rigpa (knowing).
It really simplifies things. It focuses the mind and really gets to the root of the issue. It just comes down to mindfulness and awareness. Confusion is dispelled. The mind/body rests easily, naturally.
It is really the perfection of Dzogchen.
One has reversed and rises above samsara.
Saraha says:
When (in winter) still water by the wind is stirred,
It takes (as ice) the shape and texture of a rock.
When the deluded are disturbed by interpretive thoughts,
That which is as yet unpatterned turns very hard and solid.
The ice/water image is rather illustrative of the main point.
Try it. It’s utterly amazing.
Completely effortless,
My mind is one with the dharma.
Resting or moving has become one taste.
It is simplicity itself.
Nothing to gain, nothing to lose,
The great garuda soars and shimmers.
Alignment could be likened to the hinayana or the body. Relaxation could be likened to the mahayana or the speech. Resilience could be likened to the vajayana or the mind.
Search will johnson meditation on youtube or the net. He’s taught at karma dzong, etc. I follow him around like a puppy dog. He moved to costa rica. His latest videos are accompanied by these growling monkeys. It’s a bardo like experience. He did not invent gazing but he did popularize it. He did invent water monkeys. He reinvented rumi. He showed us the importance of breath to the Buddha. He is in the process of completely transforming and reinvigorating buddhist practice.
5-15
I sent a video letter to this lady who is a dakini and teaches alot on the www. She is into the karmamudra, enlightened sexuality, as well as the wisdom of the dakini realm. I was hoping to talk to her. I have embarked on a journey into dakini wisdom. I deleted that.
5-20
I put up "Song of Mahamudra" by Tilopa from Johnson's book.
6-18
I am in a bit of a crisis. I think I have too many pages. They don't all fit anymore. I am seeking a new plan of organization and help from a webmaster.
6-21
I need to curtail the # of pages on this website. My last page is now "song of mahamudra +++". I will just start putting things on that page until I get a better idea. I put a little essay about sounds there.
6-25
I deleted a few pages and folded them into AT notes.
6-27
I numbered the topics on the last page (+++). I added #4, an essay on the indirect method. Very profound. Well understood in military history and in many places but unknown as to it's vastness and profundity to many. #3 Guru yoga. #2 Sounds.
7-6
I am rapidly upgrading my online teaching skills for Alexander Technique. I am making a big push to do more online live teaching. It's very exciting.
I put this out to a few people.
I am working on developing an online alexander technique teaching practice. I could benefit from having students upon whom to practice. Would you like to work with me on that? Free. I might try and talk you into getting one or two live lessons in your location, as one possible option. I am a big believer in hands on work at least for a minute.
I have put together some material on Google Drive. I have a folder on gazing, dharma, and karmamudra. I can share that.
7-9
going further with the gazing.
My friend and I are gazing together. I find that combining gazing with bodhichitta practice is very soothing and sweet. I am also re-discovering myself as a dancer. I kind of forgot but alot of my original inspiration for all of this was tai chi chuan and the dancing that came out of that. Now I stand in the lake, water up to my neck. I have no partner for the yabyum but I find a partner in the reality. I do the dance of the heruka. It is elegant and pleasing. It's easy to dance in the water. One seems lighter than air. The years melt away. The dakinis are around. All praise to the father guru.
7-28
I put a doha by Osel Tendzin on the last page, part 5. I will write something about that.
8-11-2021
I am working with this book, "Luminous Heart of Inner Radiance: Drawings of the Togal Visions" by Robert & Rachel Olds. I put some excerpts and pictures from it as well as some minimal commentary from me. She does not really reveal anything that controversial about this rather secret practice. Her other book goes into the process a bit deeper, but never does she cross any real lines. She keeps it philosophical and paints gently. The secret is that it is love. It is an extension of the gazing. It is an extension of vipayshana. It is Part 6.
10-21-21
Bardo Teachings
I did a video in 4 parts. 40 minutes total.
How to practice for the dying, dead, people in the bardo. The extreme efficacy of this type of practice for everyone involved. Teachings for the bardo and the time of death. The four stages of gazing (meditation).
There are also 6 prayers for the dead.
A great practice is to say extensive or cursory prayers and practices for the dying, the dead, and for those in the bardo. There is no greater help that one can be, both to others and to oneself.

I put folder 8 on the last page. It's an excerpt from Tulku Urgyen's new book, pointing out instructions on the nature of mind, trekcho teachings. This new book is the bomb. "Vajra Heart Revisited: Teachings on Path of Trekcho" They outdid themselves.
3-26-22
Folder 9: a 12 minute video on the practice of compassion, meditation on compassion; bodhichitta practice; the mother's love; tonglen; the way of the bodhisattva

I did a video. Talking about a recent visit to the prison. I minister a group of 30 prisoners, a buddhist group. I teach them buddhism and also do a good bit of teaching on the Alexander Technique. A humorous look at the last class. Sort of some insight into the homophobia present in the prisons. How much they have their own culture in there. 8 minutes.
4-9-22
